Canadian Fellowship of Baden-Powell Guilds
October 30, 1943 – June 13, 2020
It is with sadness that I report that, Honorary Life Member of the Canadian Badgers Club, Ray Crowther, passed away early morning June 13, 2020.
Ray was, unknowingly, suffering from illness for a number of months and was diagnosed in April with cancer. He wished to be at home and in privacy for as long as possible. This past week he moved into hospice, where he was well cared for and visited by family.
Ray was an avid supporter of Scouts Canada, a member of the Baden-Powell Guild and member of the Canadian Badgers Club.
Ray’s quiet love of supporting children, evident in his many years with Scouts Canada, extended to organizing the School Tours with many lower mainland schools, Guides and Scouts. For decades Ray was editor of The Canadian Badger, the magazine of the Canadian Badgers Club. He ensured the magazine was well put together and came out four times a year. He also organised the editing and printing of the Varieties Catalogue and Membership Directory.
His passion for railways of Canada was also evident in his organization of many of the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society trade show exhibits over the past six years. This was coupled with his attending scout badge swap meets and jamborees.
Scouting and Badging will miss Ray greatly. Our thoughts and affection are extended to the wife Jean and the rest of the Crowther family.
